Sonar tracing
Once a fault has been detected/located on camera the exact location can be pinpointed via special sonar tracing equipment.
The equipment identifies the exact location of the fault which can subsequently be excavated and repaired without excavating large holes!! It eliminates the guess work and as we are also able to establish the depth we can provide a more accurate cost to the client(s).
A 'sonde' which transmits a signnal up through the ground is inserted into the pipe and pushed along by means of rods or a semi-rigid fibreglass continuous coiler rod. When the sonde stops at the fault the exact point can be easily located using the latest radiodetection equipment. This can be within 150mm of the sonde and give accurate depth readings in metres. Tracing can be carried out under grass, asphalt, concrete etc. This can be used in conjunction ith the camera equipment to locate branch connections and buried manholes.
